Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) outlines the manner in which Growth and Healing Psychology (“the Practice,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal health information in compliance with the Health Information Act (Alberta), the Personal Information Protection Act (Alberta), and the regulations governing the practice of psychology in Alberta.

 

1. Collection of Personal Health Information

The Practice collects personal health information (“PHI”) that is necessary to provide psychological services, including but not limited to, your name, contact information, health history, treatment records, and payment details.

 

2. Use and Disclosure of Personal Health Information

PHI collected by the Practice will be used solely for the purpose of providing psychological assessment, treatment, administrative functions, billing, and compliance with legal and regulatory obligations. Disclosure of PHI will occur only with your express written consent or as required by law, including but not limited to:

- Situations where there is a risk of harm to the client or others

- Suspected child or vulnerable adult abuse

- Court orders or other legal requirements.

 

3. Consent

By engaging in services with the Practice and booking through the designated platform, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your PHI as outlined herein. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

 

4. Secure Management and Storage of Records

All PHI is securely collected, managed, and stored exclusively through the Jane App platform, a third-party service provider that complies with applicable Canadian privacy and security legislation. Jane App employs administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.The Practice does not use any other platforms or methods for storage or transmission of PHI beyond Jane App.

 

5. Access to and Retention of Records

You have the right to request access to your PHI or request corrections as per applicable legislation. The Practice retains records in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements, which generally mandate retention for a minimum of ten (10) years following the last date of service, or for ten (10) years after a minor client reaches the age of majority.

 

6. Privacy Complaints

If you have concerns regarding the handling of your PHI, please direct your concerns to the Practice. You may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

 

7. Policy Updates

This Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements or changes in Practice procedures. Notice of material changes will be posted on the Practice’s website.
