Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to Growth and Healing Psychology, owned and operated by Martina Vaneckova, Registered Psychologist in Calgary, AB. These Terms and Conditions outline the agreement between you (the client) and Growth and Healing Psychology regarding therapy services. By booking and attending sessions, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.If you have any questions, please contact martina@growthandhealingpsy.ca

2. Confidentiality and Privacy Policy

At Growth and Healing Psychology, confidentiality is a top priority. The information you share in therapy is protected under Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA) and the College of Alberta Psychologists’ Code of Ethics.

2.1 Confidentiality Agreement

Your sessions are strictly confidential except in the following cases where disclosure is legally required:

  • If you disclose an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others.

  • If there is suspicion or disclosure of abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or elderly person.

  • If records are subpoenaed by a court order or required by law.If any of the above situations arise, efforts will be made to discuss the necessary actions with you before breaking confidentiality whenever possible.

 

2.2 Electronic Communication and Data Protection

  • Email, text messages, and video calls are not 100% secure. While precautions are taken to protect your privacy, please use discretion when communicating online.

  • Online therapy sessions use encrypted platforms to enhance security, but clients are responsible for ensuring they are in a private, secure environment.

  • Client records are stored securely in compliance with Alberta’s privacy laws and will not be shared without your written consent unless required by law.If you have concerns about data security, please discuss them during your initial session.

3. Therapy Services and Responsibilities

 

3.1 Scope of Services

  • Growth and Healing Psychology provides therapy for individuals experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, and cultural adjustments.

  • Therapy is a collaborative process; your progress depends on your engagement, willingness to explore new strategies, and commitment to the process.3.2 Client Responsibilities

  • Attend sessions on time and actively participate in the process.

  • Notify the therapist if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment (see Section 4).

  • Therapy is not a substitute for emergency mental health care. If you are in crisis, please contact:

    • Distress Centre Calgary: 403-266-4357

    • 911 for immediate danger

    • The nearest hospital emergency department

4. Appointments, Cancellations, and No-Show Policy

 

4.1 Scheduling and Cancellations

  • Sessions are by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance.

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session.

  • Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) and no-shows may be charged at the full session rate, except in emergencies.

4.2 Late Arrivals

  • If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time, and the full fee will apply.

  • If you are more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, the session may be canceled and considered a no-show. Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in the discontinuation of services.

5. Fees, Payment, and Insurance

 

5.1 Session Fees

  • Fees for therapy sessions will be discussed before booking.•Payments are due at the end of each session unless otherwise arranged.

 

5.2 Payment Methods•Accepted payment methods: credit card, e-transfer, or other agreed-upon methods (Jane-App)•Receipts will be provided for your records.

 

5.3 Insurance Coverage•Growth and Healing Psychology does not directly bill insurance providers. However, many insurance plans cover therapy provided by a Registered Psychologist.•It is the client’s responsibility to verify their coverage and submit receipts for reimbursement.

6. Online Therapy (Telepsychology) Policy

 

6.1 Availability of Online Therapy

  • Online therapy is available for clients residing in Alberta.

  • Clients must ensure they have a quiet, private space for their session.

 

6.2 Technical Requirements

  • A stable internet connection is required for video sessions.

  • If there are significant technical difficulties, the session may be rescheduled.

 

6.3 Limitations of Online Therapy

  • Online therapy may not be suitable for individuals in severe crisis or high-risk situations. If an in-person referral is needed, this will be discussed.

7. Emergency Situations

Growth and Healing Psychology does not provide crisis or emergency mental health services. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please:

  • Call 911 for immediate assistance.

  • Contact the Distress Centre Calgary at 403-266-4357.

  • Visit your nearest emergency department.

8. Termination of Therapy Services

Either the client or the therapist may decide to end therapy for various reasons, including:

  • The client no longer requires therapy or feels they have met their goals.

  • The therapist determines that another professional would be a better fit for the client’s needs.

  • Therapy is no longer beneficial, or boundaries are not being respected.If therapy is terminated, referrals to alternative services may be provided upon request.

9. Media, Public Speaking, and Social Media Policy

 

9.1 Media Appearances and Speaking EngagementsMartina Vaneckova may engage in public speaking, workshops, or media appearances. These activities are separate from individual therapy services and do not establish a client-therapist relationship.

 

9.2 Social Media Boundaries

Growth and Healing Psychology maintains professional social media accounts for educational and informational purposes.To protect confidentiality, clients are advised not to engage with the therapist on social media.

10. Changes to Terms and Conditions

Growth and Healing Psychology reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions periodically. Clients will be notified of significant changes.By booking and attending therapy sessions, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
